Because the language is in Vietnamese…

KATSUYAMA ATSUYUKI (called K), vegan since 2009

On his 48th birthday (April 25, 2015), K, a Japanese man, started running across USA, with his minimal shoes. 79 days later (July 12, 2015), he completed running across USA, 5,030 kilometers, tracing entire old US Highway Route 66, from Santa Monica, California to Chicago, then to New York City. He has done this to raise funds for two charities in Thailand, helping HIV and cancer patients. Before that, in the past 30 years, he had participated in a total of 100 full/ultra marathons.

K says, “To be a vegan, I feel I have more energy, feeling so light, both physically and ethically. I know my choice is not suffering animals.”

When running across USA, K often enjoyed drinking homemade green smoothies, with ingredients: spinach, banana, mango, soy milk, soy protein powder, chia seeds and ice. Now, this delicious drink is in the menu of Bonita Café and Social Club, in Bangkok, a vegan restaurant, managed by K and his Thai wife, Neung.
